All Things New Sundays - DIY Chalkboard!

I am posting my All Things New Sundays post a day late because I was so busy this weekend and did not have a chance to blog at all.

This week I was inspired to create something with chalkboard paint. I have never used chalkboard paint before so I thought a small project is a great way to start!

I headed over to Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts and picked up some paint and then went to a local thrift store and found a gorgeous silver platter with handles.

I am very pleased with the results!

I specifically picked out a silver platter with handles so that it would be easier to put up on the wall.

I painted a total of three layers of chalkboard paint with at least an hour of dry time in between each coat. This is such an easy project and it was not messy at all! I'm sure it can be done on multiple different types of trays!

I am officially in love with chalkboard paint so I am sure you will see many more projects with it to come!

I hope you are inspired to create something new this week too!
Happy Monday!

How many of you use Pinterest? That's "interest" with a "p", and let me tell you, it sure does catch your interest. I've been spending way too much time "pinteresting" from my computer and iPhone. If you love pinterest, check out the iPhone app! I no longer have to get out of bed and log onto my home computer to get outfit inspirations for the day, I just lay in bed and look on my iPhone.

If you don't know what Pinterest is, I dare you to look.

Disclaimer: it's highly addictive (I'm hooked)

Here is my outfit inspiration (found on pinterest while laying in bed at 7:00am)

the leopard scarf

Denim Top: H&M
Scarf: Marshalls
Black pants: H&M
Shoes: Nordstrom Rack
Purse: ShoeDazzle

My mother was my photographer in these photos :)

I bought this leopard scarf about a month or so ago and can't seem to get enough of it. I wish I could wear it every single day, that is how much I love it! I also purchased my third item from ShoeDazzle recently: the purse in this post! I have gotten two pairs of shoes and this purse and love all three items! I'm surprised at the quality for the price!

Tuesday night is our official date night so my husband and I are going to have dinner and then go watch The Help. I've heard great reviews of this movie and am really excited to see it! I love spending time with my hubby, there's nothing else I'd rather do:)

All Things New Sundays - DIY Coffee Table + Giveaway Winner!

Happy Sunday everyone!!

Today is officially the first post of my All Things New Sundays series! I am so excited to share my first project with you: a DIY suitcase coffee table! I saw this suitcase at a local thrift store and instantly knew that it would make the most perfect coffee table:

I purchased the legs from Lowe's. They have a great selection of coffee table legs. The last thing I need to do is stain the legs. I want to stain them a darker brown to match the border on the suitcase.

This suitcase can be used as a coffee table or at the foot of your bed. I love how it turned out and it was such a simple project!
Why buy a brand new coffee table when you can make one that is unique and made out of something that was once considered old and donated to a thrift store!

Suitcase: $35.99
Legs and accessories: 25.00
Total cost of DIY project = $60.99

AND now time to announce the winner of my Vintage Jewelry/Antique teacup giveaway!

The lucky winner is Megan from

Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for my next All Things New Sundays post next week!

I have decided to start a new series called: All Things New Sundays

Sunday is the first day of each week so I am going to kick start each week with something made new!

The possibilities of how we can make things new and re-usable are endless......from clothes, to decor, to you name it!

I am starting this week and new series off with a Vintage Jewelry/Teacup Giveaway!

This teacup is collectors and one of a kind! It has the original stickers on the bottom still :)

Loved the retro bike brooch pin! I almost kept it for myself! Too cute!!

Beautiful vintage necklace!

All of these items were purchased from the Troutdale Antique Mall. This has become one of my favorite antique malls and they have lots of cute vintage jewelry!

How to enter the Giveaway:

1) Follow my blog via Google Friend Connect (if you are not already following it)

2) Leave a comment w/ your blog link AND/OR email so I know where to contact you if you win!

That is all you have to to do!!
