Life Lately

Sometimes life gets busy, and for me; I'm in one of those go-go-go times right now. Here is what I've been up to lately captured through Instagram

  • Spending countless hours going to open houses. This picture was taken on a Sunday in the car w/ my hubby going to open house Sundays:

  • Trying to eat healthy & take my vitamins which means extra time spent preparing meals so I don't eat out:
  • I joined the gym again to help me stay in shape and stay motivated. This was taken after my first workout back at the gym. I was happy to be back and felt great!
  • Casual outfits  and pulled back hair because when you are on the go you need cute AND comfortable:

  • Focusing more on my relationship with Jesus Christ. I'm trying to spend more time reading the Bible daily and reflecting on it. I'm also part of a Precept Bible Study class and we are currently studying the Book of Esther. When this part of my life is neglected a lot of other things seem to fall apart. Staying centered on His word helps me stay focused and renewed each day:
  • Trying to make sure I get  enough rest and downtime. I'm still recovering from a cough I've had for 3+ weeks now!

  • And of course, I have to fit in my much loved craft time:

  • Spending lots of quality time with my husband who brings so much joy to my life, and I can't forget little Norman :)

I'm just living life every day and loving every moment!

What's occupying your time lately?

CopyCat - Polka Dots

I am joining Sarah from Frills for Thrills in her CopyCat series again this week. Normally we join in on Fridays but I didn't have a chance to sit down and work on this post until today! It has been one crazy week but it is nice to have a quiet morning to catch up on blogging!

This week I copied the lovely and stylish Kendi of Kendi Everyday. She's kind of a tough act to follow but nevertheless, I loved her look and made my own version of it:

I will not be sharing an All Things New Sundays post tomorrow because I need a weekend to rest and haven't worked on any DIY projects this week. I'm sure I'll have something for next week!

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

All Things New Sundays - canvas art

Once again I decided to use chalkboard paint for one of my DIY crafts because it is so easy to use and so awesome! Here is the final result of my latest and favorite project:

A large canvas or whatever size you prefer:

I used a large 36 x 48 canvas:

Paint brush, rope string, mini clothespins:

After you paint 3 layers on the canvas and it has fully dried, tie the rope string around the canvas and put the pictures up using the clothespins. Be sure to allow at least 1 hour dry time in between each layer of paint:

There is not much to this project, it's pretty simple and straight forward and I just love how it turned out!

The nice thing is that I can always take the pictures, rope string, and writing off and do all kinds of designs on this painted canvas. Once we move into a new home this is probably something I would hang above our bed.

My inspiration for this project came from here and here.

Happy creating!

friday is a good day

Leather Jacket: Bebe
Jeans: Rock&Republic
Purse: Jessica Simpson
Shoes: Jennifer Lopez
Cardigan: Target
Scarf: F21

This is an outfit I wore last Friday. Everything I am wearing except for the shoes and jeans are over 2 years old yet it's been so long since I've worn most of these items that they actually feel new again! Remember this sweater over HERE? Sometimes just adding a new touch to something old can make you feel excited about it again!

Don't you love finding items in your closet that you forgot you had?

I'm currently working on a large canvas project.... I got my inspiration from here and here! I can't wait to share the finished product with you on Sunday! I think this is my favorite project yet!

I'm happy it's Friday! Have a wonderful weekend!

Our Home

I was looking through my photos the other day and came across these pictures of our home! I've never posted any pictures of our home on my blog before......

The living room:

This is what you see as you walk in through the front door. To the right is the kitchen and to the left is the family room:

Our lovely little kitchen. These are the original cabinets from the 70's. All we did was repaint them and put new handles on:

The nook where many delicious meals were served for friends and family. This is something I miss most about living in a home: having friends or family over EVERY night of the week!

The cozy family room. That big empty wall to the left is our projector wall. We had a projector mounted and that is how we watched movies and played WII Dance!

Our bedroom:

Putting these doors up on our closet was our final project and you can see in these pictures, my husband had just put the doors up and we were still needing to repaint the room. You can see the office through the other door in the hallway. That is where all my crafts/scrap-booking happened:

The lovely front yard and adorable red door. My husband maintained our yard, isn't he just amazing?!

We love a mix of retro/contemporary style and we like to keep things simple.

About 9-10 months ago we put this home up for rent and moved into a tiny apartment because my commute to work was about an hour each way during rush hour traffic.... after several years of commuting 2+ hours per day you get really tired of spending so much time in the car.

Here is our current living space. We fit some of our furniture into our little apartment while the rest sits in storage waiting for a new home:

Oh.... and I now walk to work!!! No more commute!

We started house hunting again and I am super excited to buy a new home and get to decorate all over again!!! Once we get a new home I'm sure I will have lots more projects to share with you!

Thanks for stopping by!!
