more reasons why I'm in love with autumn

Leaves all over the ground.
Colorful trees everywhere.
Pumpkins.
Comfort food dates with my sister.
Hats and scarves.

Autumn is perfect.

Oh, and Happy Halloween!

Prayers...

Super storm Sandy hit New York and the surrounding areas yesterday and into the evening.
So many people have lost their homes to fires and flooding.
The subway systems are flooded, the financial district has been closed down and thousands of people are without power.
My husband and I visited New York last year and fell in love with this city.
I can't even imagine what it must be like there today.
So much loss.
New York, lots of thoughts and prayers are going your way as well as to all the cities effected by this storm.

Won't you take a few moments to join me in prayer for these people today?

weeknights at home

I live for moments like these.
Dinners at home.
Chores together.
Snuggle time by the fireplace while the aroma of fresh bread fills the home.
And of course, little Norman.
This was a good, good night.
It's the simple things.
Sometimes I wonder what I ever did to deserve all of this.
Life is so beautiful

Just in time for Fall

This is what I have been waiting for....
Cozy, warm fall evenings by the fireplace.

Our remodel is nearing an end.
You can see in these pictures that we re-painted the walls, moldings and refinished the fireplace mantel and painted it white.
Our kitchen cabinets are almost done too!
After the holidays we are going to refinish and stain the hardwood floors.
We have more work ahead of us but so far so good. I'm loving how everything is coming together.

Just in time for us to enjoy these wonderful fall evenings.

On Friday night we celebrated my sister in-law Jenn's birthday.
I always have way too much fun with her.
She is one of those people that can always make you smile and brighten your day.. oh and did I mention how funny she is?!

Everything about her is just beautiful...inside & out.

A very happy, happy birthday to her!

Girlfriends 1/2 Marathon

We accomplished our goal of running the entire race in 2.5  hours!

After months of training and anticipation, we did it!
We ran the 13.1 mile Girlfriends Half Marathon this weekend!
This was our first marathon ever and it certainly won't  be our last!
Although I am incredibly sore and spent the rest of the day yesterday napping and recovering, I feel a great sense of accomplishment!

I'm so thankful for my sister who makes an awesome running partner!

Happy Monday!

DIY Pendleton Scarf

Hello lovelies, Jade here! The creative behind style blog 'Jade Rose Blog' where I post about my wardrobe styling, daily outfits, behind the scenes of photo shoots and the bridal fashion world. I'm so excited to be here!

Supplies:  Scrap Pendleton wool- I got a 12 pound bag of Pendleton wool blanket scraps for $25.00 at the factory in Pendleton, Oregon. Best craft purchase ever!

Step 1: Lay the wool flat and cut to your desired length. (I just wrapped the wool scrap around my neck twice to get the length I wanted).

Step 2: Trim the edges of the Pendleton wool, removing fringe and other colors of wool that were attached at one point.

Step 3: Make sure you've cut off all colors and pieces of the scarf that do not belong (evenly I might add) and prepare the edges for finishing.

Step 4: Your finished edge should look similar to this, you have several options for finishing the hem of a wool scarf. You can pink the edges, hand stitch around the hem, or leave it raw as I did. (which is the easy way out ;)

And Voila!

Beautiful little girls

These are my little nieces.
I am such a proud auntie so I just had to share some pictures of these absolutely beautiful little girls.

Anjalina is the oldest and Emily is her newborn little sister.
My heart just melts everytime I see these little munchkins.

My awesome, talented and beautiful sister in-law Jenn took these photos!
Meet Jennifer of Spotted:Stills Photography:

Gorgeous, right!?

She is seriously an amazing photographer! If you are in the Portland/Greater Portland area, checkout her blog! She is having a fall special right now!

She also shoots all kinds of sessions from family, seniors, and even Boudoir.

I love you Jenn!
