Pregnancy Update: 33 Weeks

IMG_5611.jpg blocled IMG_5601 IMG_5609.jpg blocked IMG_5590

I'd like to take a moment to talk about these pants.
These are not maternity pants.
They are just a pair of my favorite GAP jeans that I've had for about two years.
The only reason I am able to wear these pants at 7 months pregnant is because I am wearing an amazing product that every pregnant women must have:
It's called the "Be Maternity BeBand" and I found it at Target.
A lot of my pregnant friends highly recommended it so I bought a black and white one and am so glad that I did!
Basically this band allows you to wear all your non-maternity jeans.
You just simply wear the jeans unbuttoned/unzipped and put this band over the top!
I find it to be extremely comfortable, supportive and does a great job keeping my pants in place!
I did buy one pair of maternity jeans and received another pair as a gift, but other than that, I have been wearing all my normal pants.
If you are pregnant I suggest you check it it out!
You'll also be glad you did!

As for our baby's progress, at 33 weeks he is just over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark.
He is getting so big that he pushes into my left rib making it feel so sore!
I can barely bend over to put shoes on, let alone buckle them!
About 7 weeks to go.. almost there :)

a special congrats to a special girl

My (not so baby anymore) sister officially graduated from University.
She has a Bachelors Degree in Micro Molecular Biology <-- (smarty pants!)
Not only is she absolutely stunning, but she is smart and dedicated.
{I'm so proud of her}
We celebrated with family on Saturday night by trying a fun new restaurant for dinner and she booked herself a trip to Australia for two weeks at the end of August/early September to visit friends and visit a new country - a well deserved trip!

I'm so excited to see what the future holds for her!
Stephanie, I know you will continue to do great things!
I hope you know we are all so proud of you - you've truly grown into an amazing woman - but to me... you'll always be my baby sister♥

Fresh Summer Apricot Jam

Summer fruits are my favorite.... and apricots are certainly on the list!
Here is an easy apricot jam recipe that will be sure to satisfy.

This recipe only requires three ingredients:
About 25-30 fresh, ripe apricots
2 tablespoons fresh squeezed orange juice
1 1/4 cup sugar (I use raw sugar, but you can use regular as well)
(**this makes about 1.5 mason jars, just enough to last my husband and I a few weeks)

Wash the apricots, cut them in half and remove the pit.
Place the apricots in a large pot on the stove and add the orange juice and sugar.
Turn stove on med-high stirring until the sugar is melted completely.
Important: make sure you stir constantly so that the sugar doesn't stick to the bottom and burn

Once the sugar is completely melted, turn the heat to low and allow it to simmer and cook - stirring occasionally.
After about 30 minutes stir more vigorously so that the apricots begin to smash.
At this point you can taste it to see if it needs more sugar - if yes add according to your desired taste.
I allowed mine to cook on low for one hour to get the consistency below:

After an hour simply just put the jam in a mason jar and allow to cool completely in refrigerator.
Once it is cooled, enjoy on toast or with whatever your heart desires!
So delicious and fresh!
(Jam will last for about 3 weeks in the refrigerator and for up to one year in the freezer)

Breakfast is served!

Mmmmm... from my kitchen to yours!

Pregnancy Update: 32 Weeks

Week 32 is now here and I'm feeling huge - I wonder how it's possible for my stomach to grow any bigger?
Sometimes (especially after I eat) I feel like my stomach is going to burst, but I'm hanging in there!
I was talking to my sister last night and realized I've been pregnant since January!
It seems so weird to think how fast time has gone from January until now.
I hope the next 8(ish) weeks go by just as fast because we are so excited to meet our boy.
In the next weeks our son is expected to gain about a pound per week.. he sure is fattening up in there.
My pregnancy app tells me he has toenails, fingernails and real hair now (or at least peach fuzz).
This is an exciting time as we get close to the end!
Later this week I'll be posting an update of our remodel!
It isn't done yet but we are getting there!
Happy Monday!

I cannot believe we only have about 9 weeks left until we get to meet our little babe♥
At a little over 16 inches long and roughly 3.3 pounds (four navel oranges), this little guy is getting big!
I can feel him move all around and my entire stomach moves with him... it's fun to watch!
I've started to have braxton hicks contractions two weeks ago.
I haven't had any throughout my entire pregnancy so having one for the first time was a strange feeling!
They aren't too bad and are just part of a normal pregnancy!
We ordered our crib last week and I was able to do my baby registry.
My sister is planning a big surprise baby shower for me in a few weeks - all I know is the date and that it's going to be at my house.
She scheduled the entire day out for me: manicure/pedicure in the morning, hair/makeup in the afternoon and then all I need to do is show up for the shower.
I'm really looking forward to a day of pampering and a suprise party spent with family/friends.
I love my sister..... she is always so thoughtful!
As far as the home remodel goes; we are getting there.
It's taken a lot longer than we anticipated because we had a hard time finding a few subcontractors for certain jobs.
The good news is there is not too much left.
Drywall is going up this week, then paint, doors/molding, fixtures and lastly carpet.
We have all the material either already bought or ready to order so it should only be a few more weeks to completion.
That will give me a few more weeks thereafter to setup the nursery and our master bedroom before baby arrives.
I'll be sure to share pictures of the remodel when it is done as well as our sons nursery!

Here's to another week ahead!
♥, Denise
