nine months old

This little guy keeps me busy but not a moment spent watching after him feels like a moment wasted.
Charlie is actually going to be ten months old in about a week but these were taken when he turned nine months old.

These days Charlie spends his time exploring every part of the house in his walker.
He follows me all over as I do my daily chores and when it's been a while since I've last acknowledged him, he comes up next to me and pulls on my pant leg until I look down at him and smile.
He then smiles back so big that his nose wrinkles up.

We keep saying that any day now he will start walking on his own, but he is still wobbly and needs a little more courage!
He hasn't crawled at all and doesn't even really seem to be too interested in trying, he just wants to be up on his feet all day long.

At this age I will describe him as sweet yet feisty.
Although he is as sweet as can be, he is also a feisty little go getter.
I'm loving this age and have told my husband that I will miss it when he gets older, but then again, I think I've said I love every stage......
I really just don't want him to ever grow up.

easy banana bread

4 ripe bananas - smashed
1/3 cup unsalted butter (if butter is salted, don't add extra salt)
1 cup sugar or 4 tablespoons stevia
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flower
A pinch of salt

1) Preheat oven to 350°F
2) In a large bowl combine smashed bananas with melted butter, mix with a wooden spoon.
3) Mix in the sugar, vanilla, egg, salt and baking soda.
4) Lastly, slowly add the flower. Mix well.
5) Pour in a greased 4x8 inch loaf pan and bake for 50 min to 1 hour.
6) Cool on a rack. For extra moist banana bread, cover it with a towel while cooling on the rack.

Enjoy with coffee or your favorite hot tea!

Green Lace Dress

Denim Jacket: H&M || Lace Dress: Bar111 (thrifted) || Sandals: TopShop || Purse: ShoeDazzle
Summer is here!
When I think of summer I think of peach iced tea, floppy hats, wavy hair, food carts, long walks at sunset, ice cream, picnics, movies in the park, Saturday market, and dresses every day all day.
This dress has been sitting in my closet since I was about 8 months pregnant.
I found it at a recycled clothing store and knew it would be the perfect summer dress.
I went on a little date with a girlfriend on Wednesday night while my husband stayed home with Charlie.
We tried a new Baltic restaurant, walked around town a little and stopped to take a few photos.
When I got home around 8:30 my husband had put Charlie to bed.
It was a wonderful night off and I love my husband for letting me have my much needed girl time and for having me come home to a happy, sleeping baby!

You can find similar lace dresses at ShopRuche here and here.
Also, Free People has some really cute lace dresses that I am loving here and here.
By the way, if you haven't checked out the Dresses in general at ShopRuche, you must go look! I've bought a few in the past and was very pleased with the quality and fit.
You can never have enough summer dresses in my opinion!
Happy first week of summer!

weekend review

Walking around town, eating our favorite little big burger, hosting meals for friends and family, celebrating daddy on Father's Day, starting the mornings off with waffles,  and spending every moment with each other are what I call perfect weekends.

Charlie's first word was "tati" which means daddy in Romanian. Of course I thought his first word would be "mami" but I'm ok with him choosing to say tati first. The father-son bond they have is important and will be so important as Charlie grows up so I'm happy to see them bonding so early. Besides, I just love sitting back and watching these two crazy boys.

One day last week Charlie had gone down for a nap. Jason came upstairs to peek into the nursery but Charlie heard him. He quickly walked out to avoid disturbing him and came back downstairs. All of a sudden you hear "tati, tati, tati, tati" over the baby monitor. (which was then followed by crying and no longer wanting to nap) but how sweet. I'm excited for Charlie's vocabulary to grow so we can have little conversations about anything and everything.

Sometimes I think Father's are under-appreciated in comparison to mothers, but in reality, we couldn't raise these little munchkins without them. I'm thankful for my husband who is loving, hard working, and so present as a husband and father. I'm also thankful for my own father and all of the love, support and sacrifice he made for me and my siblings. I am truly thankful and blessed for the men in my life.

charlie's first trip to the pool....

We took Charlie to the pool for the first time two weeks ago......

Here are a few things to note for next time:
-make sure the water is actually warm
-make sure it is not windy and only 78 degrees out (the wind chill made it feel much colder!)
-go to the pool after he's at least had one nap that day

Otherwise, you end up in the pool for only a few minutes before this happens:

Followed by some of this:

The last part is not so bad.
Snuggles with mama make everything better.
Clean, warm, dry clothes help too.
So does a nice long nap.
We'll do better next time Charlie, I promise.

a trip to the zoo!

This warm weather is just calling for us to stay outdoors. These are a few photos from our trip to the Oregon Zoo this week! Although most of the animals were asleep in the sun or hiding away, we did get to see some of the main attractions like the polar bear, elephants, giraffes and hippos as well as the black bears. Charlie was mostly just interested in the fish, that seemed to be what sparked his attention the most out of all the animals. He was such a trooper! He took a short nap while we walked around mid-day and then napped the whole way home on the TriMet. Normally I don't like to mess with his nap schedule but now that he is nine months old (tomorrow!), he can skip a nap once in a while and not have a complete meltdown. As for me, I hadn't been to the zoo in years so I really enjoyed spending the time with a couple girlfriends and seeing all the animals.

Here's to the weekend!!
