Weekend in the snow

IMG_3057 snow IMG_3013 pics

We don't get much snow in Portland but being able to drive only a few hours to enjoy it is better than no snow at all.
And in my book, the holidays are just a little better when you get to spend some time in the snow.
Husband + some really cool friends + snow = a wonderul weekend well spent before the New Year.

I hope you are all ready for Christmas!

Leavenworth Weekend Getaway {Day 2}

IMG_2709 IMG_2654

Pictured above: Central downtown Leavenworth. So  many cute little shops and boutiques to visit. Not to mention all the adorable restaurants. There are restaurants in the basements and top floors of these cute buildings. I love how everything is Bavarian. It's like taking a little trip to an old European village.

Pictured above to the right: Pavz Cafe Bistro. We ate here for breakfast on Saturday morning. I had the ham, egg & cheese crepe and it was delicious! Such a cute little place!

Pictured above: hot chocolate while strolling through a town filled with Christmas cheer is a must in my book!

Pictured above left: Santa making doughnuts and yes, that is a real beard! No fake Santa's here! We ate 2 dozen doughnuts in one siting amongst the 4 of us; they were that good!

Isn't this place so cute!?
If you haven't been to Leavenworth yet, I highly recommend it!
It's not a place I would go every year, but someday when we have children I would definitely take them here again!
I would also go later in December when there is lots of snow!
If you are thinking of visiting and have any questions about things to see/places to eat feel free to ask in the comments section!

I just love Christmas!
Happy Holidays to you and yours too!

Leavenworth Weekend Getaway {Day 1}

Untitled Untitled-1 IMG_2543 IMG_2519 IMG_2538 IMG_2483 Untitled-3 IMG_2503 Untitled-4 Untitled-2 IMG_2494 IMG_2484

I have too many pictures to post them all at once so here are a few from {day one} of our trip to beautiful Leavenworth.
Most of the first day was spent driving and then arriving in the afternoon.
We stayed at the Obertal Inn which is right in the center of it all.
By the time we checked into our hotel and took a few pictures, it was already dark out.
You can see in these pictures that the Christmas lights are just beautiful!
There was a big choir singing Christmas carols in the town center and Santa arrived on a carriage pulled by horses.
It was so magical.
People were all bundled up sipping hot drinks and strolling through the cute little city.
Truly a Christmas wonderland...!

More pictures to come tomorrow of the daytime festivities:
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire (literally)
A game of darts in a little German pub
Santa making fresh donuts in the market place
Lots of cute little gift shops & boutiques
Snowy mountain tops in the background
and so much more to see!
Stay tuned!

...and we are off for the weekend!

like

Husband and I are headed to the beautiful little Bavarian Village of Leavenworth, WA for the weekend!
I hear it is a 5 to 6 hour beautiful scenic drive from Portland and that it might snow
**Please let there be snow!**
I'm excited to spend three whole days in Christmas wonderland drinking hot coffee, singing Christmas carols, visiting with good ol' St. Nick, seeing all the Christmas lights and eating lots of good food!
I'm especially excited to share this all with my husband.
(and another couple we love are joining in on the fun too!)

Sorry little Norman, you don't get to tag along this time but we'll be back soon!

A very wonderful weekend to you & Happy Holidays!

{Weekend Bliss}

 Pictures taken via iPhone

We went camping this weekend. We hiked a 13 mile trail around Timothy Lake, camped by the lakeside, went boating and spent lots of time playing games and conversing with some of our favorite people. We had to get in one more camping trip before the summer is over!

Weekend bliss is what I call it!

a little weekend getaway

Untitled-5 IMG_0653 Untitled-6 Untitled-1 IMG_0707 Untitled-4 Untitled-2 Untitled-3 IMG_0717 IMG_0673

Every now and then we like to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and go on little weekend getaways. Last weekend we went to the Maryhill Winery & Museum. I used to come here often as a child with my parents but my husband had never been. We had clear skies and 77 degree weather. Our trip consisted of a stop to one of the best ice cream places ever in Cascade Locks, sight seeing, live music, a picnic in the park and a long nap under the trees.
Just Norman, husband and I. So happy and so blessed.
Here's to another wonderful weekend ahead!

PS: Check back on Monday! I will be posting a lovely giveaway you won't want to miss! Here is a little sneak peak to get you excited!
