{Home Sweet Home ~ The Eating Nook}

One of my favorite areas in our new home is our eating nook.

I love the original built in wood work and large windows that bring in natural light. This quickly became a place that my husband and I spend our mornings chatting over breakfast and a freshly brewed cup of coffee.

I purchased this antique table for $30.00 from a lovely couple that posted it for sale on Craigslist. I also picked up these chairs for free after finding them on Craigslist as well. I had never painted furniture before so I thought free was a good price in case they didn't turn out as I anticipated. In the end I love the final result of the minty green chairs. They were easy to paint and bring lots of color to the nook.

My next project in this little area is to paint the walls. This dark red makes the room seem small. I want to do a lighter color to brighten up the room and give it a softer look.

Until I decide what color I want to paint the walls, here is a little before and after of my progress so far:

Painting the chairs was really simple and cheap. I was able to paint all four chairs within a few hours and with only a small sample of paint.

DIY
Step 1: Use a Medium grade sand paper block and lightly sand entire area to be painted.
Step 2: Wipe down area that was sanded with a dry cloth to remove any dust
Step 3: Paint 1 or 2 layers letting each layer dry in between.

Only 3 easy steps and  you have yourself some beautifully painted chairs!
